The Third Eye Chakra

The Third Eye Chakra

Is your Third Eye Chakra Unaligned?

The word “chakra” means “disk” or “wheel” in Sanskrit. This is referring to the different energy centers in the body and each center corresponds to major organs and nerves in the body. To function optimally, these chakras need to stay balanced, but, because life is difficult and chaotic at times, sometimes they get blocked which can manifest emotionally or physically. Below we dive into specifically the Third Eye Chakra, what it is, and signs it could be out of alignment.

What is the third eye chakra?

The third eye is one of the more popular chakras discussed in media. It is strongly linked to the pineal gland, which is located in the middle of the brain, in line with the eyes. The third eye is the chakra of wisdom. This is the source of our intuition and the perception of our core selves. This is where our dreams emerge to provide us with messages and things we need to learn to guide us further on our life’s path. When the third eye chakra is balanced, we can think clearly, feel strong senses of intuition and have an active imagination. We are also more likely to think about our dreams and interpret them for lessons to be learned.

What are signs your third eye chakra is imbalanced?

When the third eye is imbalanced, we may experience higher levels of lack of concentration, extreme internal critique and evaluations, overly obsessive thoughts, nightmares, and an inability to go with the flow. We may also suffer from creative blocks and no imagination, repressed memories, an inability to change our minds, and living an undisciplined life, being unable to meet goals we set for ourselves. We may also suffer from repeating the same mistakes over and over, seemingly unable to learn from them the first time.

How can you balance it?

There are some great ways you can balanced an imbalanced third eye chakra. First, you can implement a mediation practice into your routine. Meditation is particularly good at opening the third eye chakra. Focus on breath and “looking” at the area between your eyebrows. You may not be perfect at it and it may take sometimes, but nothing worth having comes easily. Getting adequate sleep can also aid in balancing the third eye chakra. If you find you are struggling to sleep the night through, try meditation before bed, aroma therapy, or even natural sleep aids such as melatonin. Getting on a regular sleep schedule can do wonders as well. Eating a healthy, well balanced diet is good for more than just biological health. Getting in the right balance of nutrients every day can aid in the balancing of the third eye chakra. Another method is to start a dream journal and really listen to and dissect your dreams. What do you think they mean and what could they be trying to tell you or teach you?
